EPITAPH

We often overlook the spaces in which our loved ones are laid to rest, as we try to avoid any thought of the end. Epitaph shows the beauty of these locations that have such an impact on all of our lives.

By documenting a visual exploration of these sites, it showcases the ever-changing styles of gravestones at a variety of locations, exploring the contrast between the wealthy and poor, talking to the people who help to maintain these sites and looking into the history behind some of the deceased. Spreads consisted of interview material from a Groundskeeper and funeral director. Both these roles are extremely important within the relations of cemetery upkeep. The spreads are balanced with relevant photography of their tools of practice and themselves. I also included full page spreads of images sourced and taken in relation to the interviewees line of work.
